Lisbon - Boutique Hotel, design hotel or a b&b? In a few months, you have become the fashionable new travel destination in the south of Europe. The first time a person set's foot on your soil, they are immediately seduced by your charm, the colours of your earthenware façades and the laundry which dries at your windows.
Even if a person already knows you, they suddenly discover that they had forgotten just how beautiful and charming you are. It feels really good to be with you and, above all, it feels totally safe. It's really comforting after everything that's happened over these last months.
We found it so difficult to choose a place to stay, Boutique and Design hotels Lisbon are all so romantic, refined and original. Apartments, bed-and-breakfasts, boutique hotels, luxury hotels... there's a huge range. We wanted to curl up in one of the boutique hotels in the Bairro Alto, your historic centre, your city centre, which rises and falls and where people can discover your trams, which are also still authentic.
The Lisbon LX boutique hotel offers rooms within the city or by the Tagus in a warm atmosphere which will suit those looking for a romantic hotel. It's also fun to discover the bed & breakfasts with a few hidden rooms behind anonymous façades, like the Casa Balthazar Lisbon - Bed & Breakfast if you want to spend a romantic weekend away with your loved one.
The Late Birds - Gay hotel Lisbon, this modern guest house "for men only" has 12 rooms in the heart of the Bairro Alto plus a garden and swimming pool. But Lisbon, you also offer the most sophisticated hotels, like the Mercy 9 Hotel - Design hotel with its black tiled facade which could not fail to make an impression on me and its "rooftop terrace" with its extraordinary views of the city.
Finally this luxury boutique hotel Bairro Alto is very attractive thanks to its upscale style which is both classic and contemporary. But I found a very quaint and more offbeat hotel, still located in the Bairro Alto. The Independent Hotel - Design hotel Lisbon feels a bit like time stopped in the 1960s. The decor and antique furniture and especially the bar and restaurant actually feel "decadent." What a surprise when we discover this new Time Out Mercado da Ribeira with its huge dining room and trendy restaurants offering flavours from around the world. The Alfama district of Lisbon is still unique and charming and the Memmo Alfama - Design hotel Lison, a sophisticated 5* hotel is well worth a visit, it offers a terrace with a panoramic view of the city and the Tagus and a small red pool... It's just beautiful. We were also lucky enough to discover the Belem quarter, but it's difficult to choose between the Altis Belem, this sophisticated spa hotel on the harbour and this 5 star luxury hotel, which seems to have been the "Palacio do Governador".
Naturally we couldn't resist enjoying your famous Pasteis de Belem, a delicacy which is savoured warm and which is made of puff pastry and an egg custard ... It's a real a treat ... It's an institution which is authentic, but which has become a bit too industrial... perhaps... Finally, we enjoyed a divine meal at SEA Me, this exceptional fish restaurant in the Cevicheria which offers fresh and tasty products with exceptional flavours. Yes, Lisbon, you really are the trendy destination of the moment. I love you Lisbon... Best boutique hotels in Lisbon >
