Only, as usual, the dilemma is knowing where to go. Your bucket list of destinations is still as long as your arm, and your desires waver to the rhythm of the blinking Christmas tree garlands.

I have concocted a small selection of key destinations to help you make your choice for January. Sun or snow? Romantic weekend or family vacation? Skiing or spa? Here, you will find everything you need to satisfy your desires and start the year on a well-deserved change of scenery.

For my part, I’m still hesitating between beautiful San Francisco and a getaway to the ancient wonders of Rome.  And who knows? Maybe we'll meet in one of the lobbies of our magnificent Boutique Hotels 😉

These 5 hotels made cult through cinema

During this period, the weather is conducive to evenings spent under a blanket, with a good glass of wine or a hot herbal tea. Looking for a movie idea for tonight? Here are 5 for you, hotel lovers, where hotels almost become central characters in the story.

  • The Park Hyatt Hotel in Tokyo. Made famous by the filming of Lost in Translation by Sofia Coppola, with Scarlett Johansson and Bill Murray, the hotel has no less than 52 floors, and allows you to observe Mount Fuji in the distance.

  • The Grand Hotel in Cabourg. You will recognize here the hotel where a good part of the action of the film Intouchables by Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano takes place, in which Omar Sy and François Cluzet live a beautiful story of friendship that warms the heart.

  • The Grandhotel Pupp in Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic. In Martin Campbell's Casino Royale, Daniel Craig plays a legendary 007. The hotel contains a swimming pool, a sauna, a salt cellar, and even an 18-hole golf course!

  • The Meurice in Paris. If you haven't seen Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris yet, now is the time to discover this hotel, where Owen Wilson finds himself transported back to the 1920s, alongside Picasso, Matisse, and other celebrities.

  • The Plaza in New York. In Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby, Leonardo Dicaprio gives lavish parties in the Fitzgerald suite of this grand hotel. Ivory, mother-of-pearl, exotic wood, marble… everything is done to make the spectator dream of moments of luxury as great as the talent of Léo.

The hotel of the moment: The Cambrian (Dorfstrasse, Switzerland)

This month, we’ve decided to put the Swiss Alps in the spotlight! In The Cambrian hotel, you will have a 700 m2 spa, including an indoor swimming pool, saunas, and a whirlpool. The big plus? The heated outdoor swimming pool offers a splendid view of the snow-capped mountains. Want to ski? The slopes are not far away, and the hotel offers a shuttle service to get you there.

What if you opted for an adults-only hotel?

After the family celebrations, where the children were the centre of attention to open Santa's presents, you are many who dream of a moment off. And if you leave the little ones to the grandparents and go away for a weekend with adults? This is what “adults only” hotels offer, designed for adults only. These establishments do not accept children, and only offer entertainment for adults. They’re enough to rekindle the flame for a few days.
