Keeping the whole family happy on a city break away in a hotel is no easy task. Buttes-Chaumont is perfect for the young Indiana Jones, who can climb up and down the hills before crossing the lake by bridge to discover the Temple de la Sibylle that is partially hidden by the park’s rambling trees. La Villette is a modern park and museum complex. Cité des Sciences has interactive exhibits in the Explora display and the spherical Géode IMAX cinema. There is also Cité de la Musique music museum and concert hall, Zénith rock venue and Grande Halle. Many events take place here throughout the year including circus, theatre, a summer outdoor film festival and Jazz à la Villette in September.

South of the river lies the quintessential Jardin du Luxembourg which has plenty of things to keep the kids entertained. A huge playground, sandpit, Charles Garnier's carousel, puppet shows, pony rides and the possibility to hire sailboat. For a more educational park experience, visit the Jardin des Plantes-Muséum national d’Histoire Naturelle, which has plenty to occupy all ages, from alpine gardens, hothouses, a zoo, playgrounds and several cafés. Inside the walls of the park, you’ll find fascinating displays of stuffed animals in the Grande Galerie de l’Evolution, while other buildings are dedicated to paleontology and minerals.
