The Mexico Design Hotels
What is you next design hotel in Mexico ?
For years, Mexico has been among the world's top ten most visited countries. Its rich cultural heritage, inspiring natural scenery, and mouth-watering cuisine were powerful reasons to visit, so we booked a two-week holiday that combined a stay in Mexico City with beach breaks in the Pacific coast. Here are three reasons why we fell in love with this destination.
Mexico City: the perfect introduction to the country
Las Suites Mexico City
It's impossible not to be impressed by this bustling metropolis. Mexico City offers a charming combination of modernity and tradition, as towering skyscrapers give way to colonial buildings and cobbled streets. We stayed in Las Suites, a classy hotel located in the trendy neighbourhood of Polanco. The master room had its own private balcony, a kitchenette with a separate dining area, and views over the city's glitzy business district. We particularly loved the chic ambiance and spent the evenings enjoying the cool breeze at the hotel's rooftop terrace. The spa is open 24/7 and is the perfect place to recover from jet lag after a transatlantic flight.
Living the high life in Acapulco
Encanto Acapulco
Acapulco is one of Mexico's premier beach resorts and makes for the ideal seaside holiday. Golden sand beaches are fringed by palm trees and extend for miles east and west of the city. There's a lively evening entertainment scene and the waterfront restaurants couldn't be any better. We treated ourselves to a luxury stay at Encanto Acapulco, a beautiful hotel located high up on the hills and offering panoramic views over Acapulco's crescent-shaped bay. We stayed at one of Encanto's designer suites, which was something of an art piece in its own right. The floor-to-ceiling windows let plenty of sunshine in and the hotel's cinema room was a nice touch.
Nayarit: a hidden gem in Mexico's Pacific coast
Imanta Resort Punda de Mita
Our stay in Nayarit was certainly the highlight of our Mexican holiday. Our destination was Punta de Mita, a breathtakingly beautiful peninsula surrounded by crystalline waters and white sand beaches. And if the scenery was out of this world, the accommodation we chose was even better. We stayed at Imanta, a luxury hotel nestled between lush rainforests and picture-perfect beaches. Accommodation comes in the form of 5-star bungalows and oceanfront villas, some of which are equipped with their own infinity pool and outdoor jacuzzis. The hotel's facilities were top-notch and we were impressed by the hotel's in-house restaurants, which serve some of the most tasty seafood we have ever tried.
